    Hello There

I am new to the area and just looking to connect with people.  (Of course, I will be heading to the Book Festival tomorrow )!  Any suggestions?

    Hi!
Welcome to the area and Collingswood Mix! How did you hear about this site?
Where did you just move from?

Yes...tomorrow is the book festival, and there is also a flea market in Haddonfield on Kings Hwy. We have been to it the last couple years, and this year my husband and I are participating in it!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks for replying!  I found the site in a round about way.  I was on the Aenigma jewelry website and saw a link to this site and decided to check it out. Big Smile    I didn't see a lot of posts on here - is the site just starting out?

    Re: Hello There

    Hi,
Oh, cool! We actually did the website for Aenigma too...glad you found it via her website! Doesn't she have wondful jewelry? Have you been in the shop?

Actually, Collingswood Mix was launched about 3 years ago, but not many people used it, so then we had a BIG launch party last September, free food from local restaurants, wine, music, etc. Still not many peole used it afterwards. Facebook has been the main reason we think plus people don't see why CMix is a better platform for finding out things that are going on around town.

#1 it's centralized, so if you lose a pet there is a centralized place to view/post, if you're having a sale in your shop there's a centralized place to view/post sales, if you want to find out when a restaurant is opening, same thing. With facebook, you need to visit the 5 different Collingswood pages, plus each business owners page, etc. It's more time consuming to find out the things you really want to know about. You can also subscribe to the various forums that peek your interest and be notified via email whenever someone posts under that category (ie: lost & found, events, etc). We think people havne't realized this yet...we're hoping they do, so we're leaving the site up and running in the meantime Big Smile. It's 100% free to use, we're not making any $$ off of it, but we're also not paying for it either, so we figure why not let it sit and hopefully someone will see the value and it will spread.

Our whole reason for launching it was to help our local community flourish. We launched before there were any community sites for towns, so at least we were ahead of the curve Big Smile

Again, I am SO happy you found us...check back often, post, and help to spread the word as we truly belive this to be a great tool for community growth.

    Where did you move from?

    Re: Hello There

After posting this I went to the shop to get a present for my sister.  I loved it so much I couldn't resist getting a few little things for myself!  Nice job on the website. Big Smile

I love the concept of this website - it's exactly what I was searching for - a hub for all of the community.  I hope it takes off!  I will try to spread the word once I finally meet people.  Have you tried making a Facebook page for people to "like" with a link to the actual page?  It may seem counterintuitive since it may be the reason the site hasn't taken off yet - but I know that I have started using websites because I saw it on FB first (Patch, Mom2MomNJ). Just a suggesiton because I wouldn't be able to tell you how successful the FB page has been for those websites.  Geeked

I am from Philadelphia - so it was not a huge move.  I really liked the small town feel and the sense of coummunity (and the fact that it was still so close to Philly).  Are you a life long resident or a transplant as well?

    Re: Hello There

I hope Emily does'nt mind me butting! Miss you Em! Smile

I myself recently transplanted here from South  Philadelphia, as my grandparents have lived there for many years. But I have lived on the west coast for many years so I am used to the simple laid back style of living like Collingswood. I plan to use this site more and hope to see others here as well.

If you have not tried El Sitio or Sapori, they are highly recommended by me, and I think Emily would agree as she is a foodie too! I guess the bummer of this town is that it is dry meaning no wine, beer, or liquer sold in these nice places to eat. This is the way the town has been since it was founded by the Quakers.

I live one block from the Farmer's Market, right of Haddon Ave. What a location!

Thanks for "butting in" Giovanni! That's what the site is all about! Miss you guys too!  Big Smile

Yep, I would definitely recommend both El Sitio and Sapori, but also Nunzio's! You can't really go wrong anywhere in town, we really have wonderful restaurants! We are actually going to Inde Blue tonight for one of my best frieds bdays. That's delish too! I actually don't mind the byob, it helps to save you $$ and can be fun. Plus we have Westmont right up the street with some good places for drinks!
